Well, who doesn’t know her name, she was THE name in the ‘rag trade’ back in the 60’s?
I met MARY several times, sometimes with Justin sometimes alone. They would come into the HARRIET showroom in Margaret Street, Mary loved my clothes, and together we would work out what would be right for Bazaar, her shop in the Kings Road. Mary asked me, when she placed her orders, NOT TO PUT MY HARRIET LABELS IN…so nobody knew that Harriet was designing and manufacturing some of her clothes!
One of my girlfriends, Jan de Sousa, who was a very dear friend of mine, she also recently died, worked with Mary all the time and every advert generally features Jan….so a part of me and Mary just died…and so did a little bit of the 60’s die too…
